Sponosored Review: Mentholatum Acnes Medicated Skincare

Been using this set of products religiously over the past 1 week plus…

Honestly, this is a pretty good and affordable product so I’m here to share ^^

Mentholatum Acnes Medicated Skincare

the No. 1 Anti-bacterial Skincare in Japan

It’s a very basic set, comprising of the Mentholatum Acnes Medicated Creamy Wash and Mentholatum Acnes Medicated Sealing Jell. Will review them separately in this post ๐Ÿ˜€

Mentholatum Acnes Medicated Creamy Wash

Directions & Precautions

Product Look & Feel

It smells like lime! Serious! ๐Ÿ™‚ I was expecting something else since it’s MEDICATED…

It foams ok (amazingly, it doesn’t contain Sodium Laureth Sulfate (SLES) or Sodium Laureth Sulfate (SLS) which are irritants commonly found in foaming cosmetics).

I used this cleanser after removing makeup. A simple check with some toner on a cotton pad revealed that there were no makeup/dirt residue after using this cleanser ๐Ÿ™‚

+ Cleanses well & Non-drying for my oily skin
Honestly, I was pretty amazed at the first wash. Usually, anti-acne wash is usually slightly drying for me (even though I’ve oily skin), giving that slight taut feel after wash. However, this cleanser doesn’t!

Indeed, my skin feels clean (not those squeaky clean feel) moist after each wash! But of course, people with dry skin may not be suitable as this facial wash is catered to people with oily skin!

– Not so much of oil control
For the first two days, I only changed my cleanser to this. I didn’t notice any change in the oil production of my skin =/

– Doesn’t prevent pimples
This is one major disappoitment though. Pimples are popping out at the usual rate… But of course, it’s still too early to conclude since one week plus isn’t enough…

Ingredient list
I’m sitting on the fence for this one… For organic/natural skincare enthusiatics, this product will not be to your liking. Honestly, I wasn’t expecting much but I’m surprised to note that this product is free of SLS (Sodium Laureth Sulfate) and parabens. However, it contains Alcohol!

I don’t think I’ll purchase this cleanser after using this one..

Mentholatum Acnes Medicated Sealing Jell

Honestly, I don’t quite get the name. Sealing Jell? Hahaha…

Directions & Precautions

Product Look & Feel

It’s a light yellow gel… You don’t need a huge amount like what I’ve squeezed out! It’s just for illustration only!

That huge amount of Sealing Jell is more than enough to cover the back of my hand. After spreading the Sealing Jell, skin absorbs the product easily and gives a smooth, non-sticky texture ^^

This one has a weird smell which I can’t point to… Hmmm

If you just squeezed your pimples, applying this product will cause a slight sting (I’ve pretty high pain tolerance though)…

+ Speeds up healing process
It’s not a miracle product (ie pimple gone the next day) but it definitely helps with the healing process!

+ Oil Control
It’s pretty cool to notice that my skin produces less oil after applying this product ^^ Usually by mid-day, my t-zone is “bling bling like LED” (quote from the song Lollipop by my fav BigBang & 2NE1). But with this sealing jell, my t-zone do shine but not as much as observed for the past week plus! ^^

+ Absorbs easily & gives a non-sticky texture
As I mentioned above, the product is absorbed by the skin easily and gives a non-sticky texture ^^

+ Non-tinted
It’s not tinted so it doesn’t neutralise/cover the redness of blemishes… It’s definitely a plus for me since I’ve been looking for something that’s not tinted to use under my bb cream.

– Doesn’t prevent pimples
Same as the cleanser, this is a disappointment… Perhaps, it would make a difference in the long run…

– Flakes if you use it under makeup when rubbed
This product will flake when you happen to rub if you use it under your makeup! T_T

– Ingredient List
Again, organic/natural skincare enthusiatics please don’t expect much from this product. But this list had more “unhealthy” ingredients I would not want to see in my skincare =/

Frankly speaking, I might consider to purchase this since I’m looking for something non-tinted to heal my blemishes! And this works! But the ingredient list is deterring me and the fact that it will flake off if you use it under your makeup when you happen to rub your skin…

But I’ll carry on using this product until I find a better alternative!

I’ve used this one for 3 mos(the cleanser), it does help control any breakouts, a little, be i’m still having them time after time, in random but one at a time. Not really impressed with this bec my skin oils fast and I thought bec vit. C and E is included but I think it doesn’t help either.
